Your crazy patient is totally unhappy, despite you explained everything and did a brilliant surgery with bilateral PC IOL.

What's wrong?

The core problem is that the equation of the "expectation vs reality" is different between your and your patient's perception.

And it starts far away from the first visit to your clinic - from the ads, friends and families, from your clinic web site and social meaia - all adds a small parts to person's expectations.

The problem here is that we think that proper patient education at the clinic may solve that issue, thus we are trying to talk, set the expectations, sign an informed consent. And that's looks logical but does not work in many cases - have a look to your experience, especially when surprised as I'v stated at the beginning.

That's the unseen silence in the room, the silence that cries "I'm afraid".

It’s how fear sounds when no one is listening.

The reality here is that your patients are actually more silent than you may perceive. They fear to speak, they forgot the questions, they are overhelmed with the information. And it creates the silence, which we try to fill with what we believe is important to them, and sometimes we fail to match.

The solution - talk less, listen more.
